COURSE STRUCTURE / MODULE SEQUENCE

The course is targeted at Upper Intermediate English learners but with sufficient academic maturity to comprehend the course content and concepts.

Throughout the course, learners will be exposed to intermediate uses of vocabulary with complex grammar skills like tenses, adjectives, adverbs, and conjunctions to allow learners to communicate and express ideas more efficiently and accurately. These skills will be used in sentence construction and subsequent oral communication and listening assessments for the course completion requirements. The course content should be equivalent to up to Secondary 3 equivalent.

The course will be organized into themes which match the profile of the learners. Possible occurring themes: Business, Tourism, Academic, Environment, Community, Occupation, Recreation Activities, and Hobbies.

At the end of the course, learners should achieve the English Language Proficiency equivalent to IELTS Banding 7.0.

Completion of the course qualifies learners to enroll in Certificate in Standard English (Level 6) Intermediate Course in Hanbridge School.

COURSE ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES

Provide guidance on the mix of assessment types suitable for this course, such that course objectives and learning outcomes can be met. Actual details of the assessment would be included in the Module design and Development Checklist.

Modes of assessment may include but are not limited to Written Assignment, Group Project, Individual Presentation, Group Presentation, Class Participation, Written Examination, Fieldwork, Learning Journal, Online Forum Participation, Oral Assessment, etc.

In class Assignment : 60 % (Group & Individual Presentation, Written Assignments& Class Participation)

Final Examination ( Written) : 40% (Multiple-Choice Questions & Open- Ended Questions)
