After months of preparation, the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) 2026 Singapore examinations are almost here.

For international students hoping to enter a Singapore government primary or secondary school in 2027, the final days before the exam aren’t just about revision. Knowing when to report, what to bring, where to go, and what to expect on test day helps students arrive prepared and focused, rather than anxious.

According to Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE), the 2026 AEIS examinations will be conducted in Singapore from 1 to 4 September 2026.

AEIS 2026 Test Dates

The first thing parents should check is the correct examination date for their child’s level, stated in the table below.

MOE has confirmed the AEIS 2026 test period runs from Tuesday, 1 September to Friday, 4 September 2026. As with all AEIS logistics, treat the table above as a general guide and always confirm your child’s exact test date against their individual Entry Proof, since this is the document MOE and SEAB treat as final.

Where Is the AEIS 2026 Test Venue?

MOE’s official AEIS page does not name one universal 2026 test venue. Instead, each candidate’s test venue and reporting time are stated individually on their Entry Proof, issued by SEAB.

Rather than assuming all candidates report to the same location, check your child’s Entry Proof carefully before test day. Plan your journey in advance and allow sufficient travelling time, including time to find the correct entrance once you arrive.

What to Bring on AEIS Test Day

Being properly prepared starts with knowing exactly what to bring and what to leave at home.

Officially required (MOE/SEAB):

• A copy of the passport bio-data page, showing personal particulars, photo, and passport details
• A copy of the Entry Proof issued by SEAB

These two documents are non-negotiable. Without them, a candidate may not be allowed to sit the test.

Commonly recommended by past candidates:

• Pencils (HB or 2B) for writing and shading the Optical Answer Sheet (OAS)
• An eraser and a pencil sharpener
• A ruler
• A transparent pencil case or clear plastic bag, for faster visual checks at the venue

These items aren’t listed on MOE or SEAB’s official pages, so always cross-check against the specific instructions stated on your child’s Entry Proof, as requirements can vary slightly by session.

Strictly prohibited: Calculators, mobile phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices are not permitted in the test hall. As with stationery, always check the specific list on your Entry Proof, since permitted and prohibited items can be updated between sessions.

Don’t Arrive at the Last Minute

SEAB states that candidates should arrive at least 45 minutes before the test and be seated at their assigned desk at least 15 minutes before it begins.

For families still finding their way around an unfamiliar test venue, that 45-minute window matters. It’s not just a buffer. It’s the time you’ll need to locate the right building, queue for identity checks, and settle in calmly before the test starts.

Plan beyond the estimated journey time. Factor in the morning commute, finding the correct entrance, walking to the examination area, and any unexpected transport delays. Familiarise yourself with the route beforehand, and aim to arrive comfortably ahead of the official reporting time.

What Should Students Revise Before AEIS?

At this stage, students should focus on consolidating what they’ve already learnt, rather than trying to master large amounts of unfamiliar material at the last minute.

For AEIS Primary, MOE states that students should be familiar with the Mathematics content taught at the level preceding the one they’re applying for. A student applying for Primary 3, for example, should know Primary 2 Mathematics content.

For AEIS Secondary, students should be familiar with both English and Mathematics content from the preceding level. A student seeking Secondary 3 admission should know Secondary 2 content.

In these final days, students can prioritise:

• Mathematics: Review familiar question types, concepts, and problem-solving methods. Pay close attention to understanding what a question is asking before beginning calculations.
• English: For Secondary candidates, revise key grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing skills while keeping an eye on time management.
• Exam technique: Practise reading instructions carefully, allocating time appropriately, and checking completed answers where time permits.

The Night Before AEIS

The night before the exam should be about preparation, not panic.

Prepare the required documents, stationery, and other permitted items in advance. Check the Entry Proof again for the venue and reporting time, plan the journey, and make sure the student gets sufficient rest.

After months of preparation, the goal is simple: arrive at the exam venue calm, organised, and ready to apply what’s already been learnt.

After the AEIS 2026 Examination

Sitting for AEIS doesn’t guarantee admission to a Singapore government school. MOE states that admission depends on the child’s test performance, while successful placement is also subject to available school vacancies and, where possible, the residential area declared in the application.

AEIS results are usually released in December of the test year, with MOE providing instructions for candidates to retrieve their outcomes.
