Fragrant Rice Dumplings & Scented Sachets โ€” Dragon Boat Festival at Hanbridge

To let teachers and students on campus experience the festive atmosphere in advance, Hanbridge Institute specially prepared a heartwarming Dragon Boat Festival activity to welcome this traditional celebration together.

๐Ÿ‰ DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL

Itโ€™s Time for Zongzi!

When it came to zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings), we carefully prepared a variety of flavours to suit the different preferences of teachers and students:

๐Ÿฅข Lightly sweet plain zongzi and red bean zongzi โ€“ perfect for those who enjoy traditional and healthier tastes;
๐Ÿฅข Pork zongzi and mushroom pork zongzi โ€“ savoury and aromatic, evoking nostalgic memories of childhood with every bite.

๐Ÿงง DIY Dragon Boat Festival Sachets

Besides delicious dumplings, we also organised a culturally meaningful DIY perfume sachet-making session. Students could freely choose from 9 types of natural herbs, including:
๐ŸŒน rose,
๐ŸŒผ jasmine,
๐ŸŒฟ cinnamon,
๐Ÿƒ mugwort,
๐ŸŒฑ rosemary,
๐Ÿ’œ lavender,
๐ŸŒฌ peppermint,
and more โ€” to create their own unique personalised scent.

Each herb carries different benefits โ€” some calms the mind, others refresh or repel mosquitoes โ€” making the sachets both practical and symbolic.

As students crafted their sachets, they also learned about the tradition and significance behind wearing them during the Dragon Boat Festival: to ward off evil, offer blessings, and promote peace and health. Through this hands-on process, the essence of the festival quietly took root in everyoneโ€™s hearts.
