March 2026 S-AEIS Examination: Essential Information and Key Preparation Points
The Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) and the Supplementary Admissions Exercise for International Students (S-AEIS) are key entrance examinations for international students seeking admission to Singapore government schools. While both exams help international students join the Singapore education system, they differ in application timing, eligible entry levels, and intake periods.
AEIS 2026 Overview
The AEIS 2026 is usually conducted from July onwards and is open to students applying for:
- Primary 2 to Primary 5
- Secondary 1 to Secondary 3
Successful candidates are admitted in the following academic year, with school starting in January.
S-AEIS 2026 Overview
The S-AEIS 2026 is a supplementary admissions exercise held from January onwards. It is designed for students applying for:
- Primary 2 to Primary 4
- Secondary 1 to Secondary 2
Successful candidates typically enter school in the same academic year, usually in April or May. The S-AEIS also provides an additional opportunity for students who missed the AEIS in September or did not pass the AEIS exam.
Important: The S-AEIS does not conduct exams for:
- Primary 5
- Secondary 3
Even though the registration for the upcoming S-AEIS March 2026 exam is ongoing, this information is useful for students preparing for S-AEIS 2026 or planning to apply for AEIS July 2026.

Test Day Instructions
Parents and students should note the following important information:
- Test Venue and Reporting Time:
The exact location and reporting time will be listed in your child’s entry proof. Students must arrive on time and be seated at their assigned desks at least 15 minutes before the exam starts. - Required Documents:
Students must bring:- A copy of their passport bio-data page – this shows the child’s personal details, photograph, and passport information.
- A copy of their entry proof issued by the Singapore Examinations & Assessment Board (SEAB).
2. Preparation required for S-AEIS Tests
The Singapore Ministry of Education has clearly stated that the focus of the S-AEIS assessment is on whether students possess the academic foundation required to progress to the next stage of learning.
S-AEIS Primary
Your child needs to be familiar with the Mathematics topics taught in mainstream schools for the level preceding the one that they applied for. For example, if your child wishes to seek admission to Primary 3, they should be familiar with Primary 2 content.
S-AEIS Secondary
Your child needs to be familiar with the English and Mathematics topics taught in our mainstream schools for the level preceding the one that they applied for. For example, if your child wishes to seek admissions to Secondary 2, they should be familiar with Secondary 1 content.
Therefore, S-AEIS is not an “advanced learning” examination, but rather emphasises students’ understanding of the Singapore curriculum and their language adaptability.
